Vayots Dzor is a mountainous region in southern Armenia, where wine has been made for thousands of years. Its valleys have been cultivated by generations of farmers and winemakers, long before the borders of the modern world were drawn.

Parseghyan Vineyards is rooted in this landscape, in the village of Aghavnadzor. Our vineyards, our varieties and our way of working are shaped by this place.

100+ years old

still growing on its own, ungrafted roots

Volcanic soil

Basalt and tuff give the wines their mineral edge.

High elevation

Vineyards from 1,200–1,500 meters above sea level; wide day-to-night swings preserve natural acidity.

Dry-farmed

No irrigation — the vines rely on natural rainfall alone, deepening roots and concentrating flavor.

Late harvest

Picked in early November, later than most, for full ripeness in the mountain air.

Native varieties

Areni Noir and Khatun Kharji — indigenous Armenian grapes grown here for centuries.

Small-batch

5,000–10,000 bottles a year, made and bottled entirely by hand.

The name of the vineyard

Odzi Ktsats

Long before it belonged to us, this plot already had a name. Vayots Dzor has always been viper country, and the old story goes that a man once stole grapes from this exact hillside — until, one day, the snake caught him first. To the villagers, it was less a warning than a guardian doing its job. The village never forgot it, and neither did the name of the land.

It's why our second label is called Odz — "snake," in Armenian. And it's why two small marks appear across everything we make: not decoration, but a bite.
